A compilation of stuff I know about drawing Asian faces and Asian culture! I feel like manyĀ āHow-To-Drawā tutorials often default to European faces and are not really helpful when drawing people of other races. So I thought Iād put this together in case anyone is interested! Feel free to share this guide and shoot me questions if you have any! Iām by no means an expert, I just know a few things from drawing experience and from my own cultural background.Ā

Tuesday Tips – Floating Hands
I use this a lot when storyboarding a first pass of a sequence. Placing hands in the right, most appealing position can be tricky. In order to create a clear silhouette for the hands, I often draw themĀ āfloating in the airā. Then, using my general knowledge of anatomy, I justĀ āfill in the armsā. This way I can create a much more expressive and clear pose than if I was just radiating out of the torso. Thatās when structure and anatomy can get in the way of a clear message. And hands carry a lot of meaning, so I want to make them as clear as possible Ā for my audience to see them.
I would say the same applies to life drawing. Since they often donāt carry the body weight (legs most often do), I feel like i can take the freedom of changing their position slightly to make a better visual statement.
-nYay! Iām not the only one doing that!Ā

Hi everyone!Ā
First of all, I just wanted to thank yāall for all the love on theĀ last tutorial I postedĀ -Iām glad people found it worthy of sharing and reading. I wanted to make this one more in-depth. I donāt think I would call this a ātutorialā to achieve something specific, but a look into the thought process that goes on regarding environments, storytelling and execution. Hopefully you can relate it to your own thought processes you currently have.
Have a good one, guys! If you got questions, do ask āem.Ā :)
(Also. I know Iāve been quiet in posting new art lately. A lot of the art I canāt show yet but there is cool stuff on the way.)Ā

Iāve been asked a lot about how I draw hoods, mostly Talonās hood, so I hope this helps a little? Just a pretty basic thing but hey there ya go
Hoods are pretty cool, they usually have a lot of variety in how they can look (and sometimes people even wear two hoods at once) so just get creative with it and have fun
