To start with, it’s called ‘Thug Kitchen’. “Thug” is shorthand for black male; regardless of how strictly you might try to adhere to respectability politics (i.e. cultivating an image for yourself that lets white people know you’re not like those black people), if you’re black and male you’re still seen as a thug who’s guilty of something a la Trayvon Martin, Mike Brown, etc. (Here’s an article about the racist use of the word “thug” throughout the Trayvon Martin trial.)
On no planet can these white yuppies use the word “thug” without racial implications or realistically deny that those implications are intentional. There’s a reason why they were anonymous until the release of their cookbook.
Second, it’s not just swear words, they use African American Vernacular English (AAVE, or “ebonics”) and make the conscious decision to infuse it with vulgar language, which is, by the way, racist since AAVE is not innately vulgar. That’s just their interpretation of what it means to be a “thug”. AAVE is a dialect like any other, using it does not reflect any aspect of your personhood, your intelligence, your class, your education, etc, all it means is that you grew up Black in America, or that your language is influenced by Black people you grew up with.
“All up in”, “Ain’t nobody got time for that”, etc are examples of AAVE. If you read an interview with these people you’ll notice they don’t speak in AAVE naturally (some non-black folks grow up with AAVE; that is not the case here). They’re just white people who swear a lot. They could have created their corny brand around that vulgarity alone but the addition of AAVE and the “thug” archetype are exploitative and RACIST. The language they’re using is the joke. When black people make jokes that involve AAVE, the language is just the mode of delivery. Everything about this is a mockery and it’s embarrassing, I hope the realization that these people are making money off this minstrel show inspires a serious backlash.
whit people are getting on my nerves more and more every day.
So this is basically literary blackface.
YES ^
Then let’s get them dragged. I’m sure we can make it happen as a collective group (black tumblr/twitter) we’re a force to be reckoned with

Send in comments on their Facebook and Twitter. THEY ARE DELETING COMMENTS THAT CALL THEM OUT ON THEIR RACISM AND ALLOWING THE WHITE PEOPLE COMMENTS THAT SAY “THIS IS NO PROBLEM”!!!!

Here is the worst midi I have ever found and honkified
It is supposed to be “bring me to life” by Evanescence, but even before the honks were added it was hard to tell what it was.
However, this is exactly what this is about. I was finding really bad midis and mocking them. asking the world why anyone thought that they were worth releasing to the world. suggesting that maybe they were actually put out there with the purpose of being mocked and laughed at.
About half of the midis I have done are NOT bad at all, and I kind of feel like I lost the point in the name of doing songs I thought people would enjoy.
so here is another terrible one. You seem to like the worst of them anyways.
jeSU A SFUCLKIGN CHRI ST
HOLY FUCK LMFAO
Not only do I love this shit, it’s the first thing I’ve heard on my laptop that takes advantage of the supposed “Dolby Home Theatre” sound.
they should have sent a poet

Tobias Capwell in his custom made armour, based on an effigy from about the 1450s. It is a beautifully tailored second skin designed to protect him while jousting or (with a different helmet) in foot combat.
Properly made armour does not restrict movement, armour like this actually has a greater range of movement than the human inside it.
For those of you unfamiliar with Tobias, he is a big name on the jousting international scene.
Don’t like Manga Studio? Get this instead.
I know I’ve been basically acting as a clown with a sign outside the Manga Studio shop, but I do realize that some people are just too used to other programs to change now. And that’s fine, if you actually work better with it. But part of the reason I went over to Manga Studio, when I’ve tried Photoshop, SAI, Gimp, FireAlpaca, Sketchbook Pro, and Corel Painter… is because of the exceptional stabilizers and penstroke guides that let you make distinctive shapes, draw easily in perspective, and make it all look highly organic and professional.
Well… for those of you who want to stick with your other art programs… There is Lazy Nezumi Pro.
I do not use it. But that’s only because I feel that Manga Studio can already do all this stuff. But I am exceedingly impressed with what LNP has created. They’ve created a program that brings stabilizers, perspective guides, pressure sensitivity editing, and much more to programs that don’t normally have them.
I will just let the images speak for themselves:
This is the exact reason I have strayed from Photoshop. Because of the lack of ARTIST tools, and the profound lack of stability.
Well, here it is. They fixed it. And it works with other programs too.
So… yeah. If you aren’t interested in Manga Studio, but you still want to improve your digital penstrokes, definitely check out the demo.
I’ve been using this nearly constantly since I got it. It’s amazing~
I’ve still got the free version that I was using before I got Manga Studio, and the stroke correction is really super great. :D

Scientists may soon be able to explain the link between depression and obesity due to a new study which shows that exercise releases a protein in the muscles that combats kynurenine, a chemical in the brain that is linked to causing depression. Source
This is important.
Okay maybe sure.
But maybe we also live in a culture that vilifies and shames us for not conforming to an arbitrary body size. Or skin color. Or social standing. Or physical ability. Or any number of other things that intersect with depression and mental illness.
This is not some cut and dried issue that can be ‘cured’ with exercise.

So much with Rei and Ami disappointed me in this episode, but I’m going to do my best to not focus on that. Instead, let’s mine for every wonderful nugget that we can.
Let’s start with how I really do love the constant presence of Minako in Crystal so far. Much of PGSM is a blurry drunken haze, but one of my favourite touches (of what I’ve seen so far) is how despite being apart from them, Minako is there. In her posters and advertisements, in her songs. Here, it’s Minako as Sailor V. You can’t exactly call it SUBTLE. I mean in this entire arcade it appears to be only wall-to-wall Sailor V consoles at this point (and it’s not like we ever see ANYONE ELSE PLAYING THEM). Plus you can’t really avoid the two gigantic posters basically being “HEY GUYS WHAT’S UP I’M SAILOR V”. But the lack of subtlety doesn’t bother me. It actually feels quite fitting, not only for Minako’s personality, but for what a larger than life fixture Sailor V is in their lives.
Then we have Rei and Ami, and if this isn’t THE first time they’re hanging out together, then it’s got to be close. I find Rei and Ami’s relationship in Crystal (so far at least) has been stripped of nearly all the poignancy and importance that it held in other incarnations, but it remains cute how impressed she is with Ami. I never tire of these girls finding each other amazing. And how that must feel to Ami, to hear someone tell her she’s wonderful for the very thing that typically made her feel like a side show attraction.
Oh, and your final happy punch?
AMI’S STILL USING HER PEN AS A PEN
Through the brainwashing scene in episode 2, all I could think of was YOUUUUUU TOOOOOOOOOK MYYYYYY PENNNNNNNNNN
