23: Do you draw more fanart, or more original art?

Original.  I have a webcomic to maintain, so I’m working on that 90% of the time.  I wish I had more time for fanart, but only a few things strike my fancy enough for me to draw fanart of it.

30: What inspires you to not just make art, but to be a better artist?

I think it can be summed up by the biggest lesson/advice I learned from one of my art professors: there is always more to learn.

There’s always something new to try out and fold into my arsenal.

19: What is the most difficult thing for you to draw?

DUDES. Seriously, I just try to get their proportions down and my brain gets all wibbly wobbly. WHERE DO THE HIPS GO.  I’ve been drawing ladies for SO LONG, lol.

Artist Asks!

Hey, let’s do a thing! Put a number in my ask box and I’ll answer. :B

Have you been watching the redub of the original Sailor Moon on Hulu? What do you think of new voices? =3

I have!  I’m really loving pretty much everyone so far.  Stephanie Sheh’s Usagi really grew on me, and all the villans so far have been 100% on point.  I’m a fan of Patrick Seitz (Kunzite) anyway, and I just love him so much adfhjskhfjk.

The only voice I’m not really feeling is actually Ami.  Her voice is, pitch-wise, very similar to Usagi’s, and her delivery is lacking something that I can’t quite articulate, so she’s falling kind of flat for me.  I look forward to the second half of the season, so I hope she changes my mind. :B

Overally, having lived through the 90s dub, it’s REALLY WEIRD to finally hear these characters speaking English again, but NOT hearing “Serena, Molly, Melvin,” etc., in the dialogue.

Hello! I saw your old post about making buttons on your blog, and I want to say thanks for putting it together! it was the most comprehensive button guide I’ve read. I also had a quick question about the BAM hand press. When I try to make the 1.25 in buttons, the plastic cover sticks out / isn’t completely tucked into the pinback in some places. Have you had this problem? Do you have any tips against this?

I’m glad you found it helpful!

The cover-sealing issue is a common one I had when I first started out.  I also have it sometimes now, as sometimes I get a slightly off/bad batch of parts now and then.

My best advice is to make sure you’re pressing the red disc in as flat and flush as possible.  Some of my friends use a sledgehammer. Look at the back, and make sure you can see the edges of the paper and plastic all around the button face. (See steps 20 and 21 of the guide.)

What was your favorite level in Portal 2? How did you feel about Wheatley’s transistion into villain?

I think my favorite puzzle is Test Chamber 10 (in Chapter 3), but any puzzle with Aerial Faith Plates are my favorites.  I think they’re super fun.

My favorite storyline part was Wheatley’s turn to villain!  In no small part due to Stephen Merchant’s acting.  The moment his elated laughter slowly turned into a maniacal cackle was so well done.  That moment gave me awesome chills in my first playthrough, like SHIT JUST GOT REAL OH NOOOO. :D

These are my favorite games and I’m a little sad that I didn’t get into them until over a year after the second one was released, but I love talking about them and replaying them and participating in the fandom here and there with some fanart.
