Green With Envy now up on the blog.
Hmmmm I love this shade of green.Ā When I have disposable income for clothes again, I will hunt down a jade green dress and/or cardigan.

The argument that āplus-sizeā clothes costā¦
The argument that āplus-sizeā clothes cost more because they take more fabric is bullshit. If clothing sizes were priced by the amount of material they take to make, each size would cost a little more than the size below it. And if a size 20 would cost more than a size 12 then a size 10 should cost more than a size 2. But it doesnāt. Because your argument is fucking bullshit.
And if fat bodies were valued as much as thin bodies, the extra cost in materials would be applied over all sizes and averaged out to one price.Ā If fat bodies were valued as much as thinbodies, this wouldnāt even be a fucking conversation. End of story.
Get this.
The amount of fabric waste in fashion is staggering. Ā
When companies are cutting out fabric pieces for clothing the excess fabric is thrown away. Ā Cutting out fabric for a size 20 pair of pants doesnāt actually cost more than fabric for a size 4 because all those inches of fabric from the leg piece to the edge of the fabric arenāt used – usually they arenāt even the right size or grain to make other pieces like the waistband or cuffs.
There is a movement happening among some smaller companies making their patterns that use as much fabric as possible, selvage to selvage, to reduce waste – but to the vast majority of large clothing manufacturers, this is a huge time waster when the cost of cheap fabric in fast fashion is negligible anyways.
Yes this makes a lot of sense!Ā
I’ve been thinking about these sorts of things pretty often for the last few months.Ā

Circus Pleats. [Outfit Details] [Youtube]
I’m seeing all these big bold vertical stripe shirts and dresses and I really want one.Ā I’m thinking blue/white, pink/white, or yellow/white.
I really kinda want to look like those iconic striped beach tents that I think you’re supposed to change in.

Hey, I got to do a Fashion February today!Ā Camera phone is the only camera I own at the moment, and I happened to go to a local Kohl’s that’s closing to look through their clearance, so I got a nice full-body shot of this outfit in the dressing room mirror.Ā (Also pictured: a top I got for $5 on its hanger. :D)
I don’t wear this skirt nearly as often as I should.
Cardigan: Merona (Target)
Top: Avenue
Skirt: Merona (Target)
Stockings: Hips and Curves
Boots: Payless
Will also be the subject of a future OOTD illustration! ^_^
[Image: A fashion-y illustration of Alex wearing a blue two-toned floral sheath dress with a wide black belt cinching her waist, purple strappy sandals, and holding up a big light blue bow with ribbons hanging down.]
Outfit from 5.28.2011
Dress: Lane Bryant sz. 22/24 (borrowed)
Belt: Lane Bryant, don’t know size (also borrowed)
Sandals: Avenue sz. 11
Fat Necklace: Definatalie
Wore this to my cousin’s wedding last spring.Ā I didn’t have anything new and exciting to wear, so I borrowed things from my sister.Ā Luckily we’re similar sizes, though she is a bit shorter than I am.Ā She’d actually hemmed this dress due to her height, so on me it was more like a minidress!Ā With the belt, I totally had a Joan Holloway caboose on me.
The bow is there because I made the decorations for my cousin’s car for after the ceremony.Ā Ribbons and bows EVERYWHERE.
[Image: A fashion-y illustration of Alex wearing a red spotted dress with a black shrug cardigan, long strawberry necklace, black tights, and white gogo boots.]

I love love love the strawberry dress– the only drawback is I cannot wear it by itself!Ā The neckline is cut a little strangely for my shoulders and the straps wont stay up at all.Ā But the shrug works well enough until I can take it to my seamstress friend to see what she can make of it. ^_^

Back on the OOTD wagon! o/
I got two new outfits drawn while on my lunch break last night, so I inked them up when I got home.Ā (I will hopefully color and post the second one tomorrow.)Ā I tried something new and inked them with a real actual brush and pot of ink, too!Ā And I only smudged this one in ONE place! ^_^;;
Anyways, my favorite part of this (both the outfit and the drawing) is from the knees down. DOSE LEGWARMERS.
No one will ever take my legwarmers away from me. *clutches them to the chest*
