Chinaās Incredible Colored Rice Terraces
Incredible panoramic views of colored rice terraces in the mountainous Yuanyang region in China, one of the worldās largest rice-producing areas. The colors of the mirrored landscape are constantly changing due to the time of day and seasonal changes. These terraces were built by hand by the Hani people about 1,300 years ago.
The terraces are dug into the steep slopes of the mountains between 1,000 and 2,000 meters above sea level. Rice is planted once a year in April and harvested in September, when the terraces are flooded to prepare them for the next crop. When the terraces are flooded, the water reflects stunning colors from the sunlight.
Despite the breathtaking beauty of its landscape, the Yuanyang region remains untouched by mass tourism. Its remote, mountainous location, bad roads and lack of a nearby airport deter all but the most determined tourists and photographers.

Why do you do this to me
Thereās a reason behind color zones, but James Gurney does a much better job at explaining it than I do. Keep in mind this doesnāt cover lighting, just the local color of skin.
Although there are ācolor palettesā here, I really wouldnāt recommend using them for your own (as in saving the image and eye dropping them) art, I did this rather quickly so this probably not very accurate. These are just my personal preferences when it comes to color. I donāt have saved palettes; I pick colors depending on the lighting or mood as I am working on a painting. BUT IF YOU WANT TO GO RIGHT AHEAD.
As for texture, lolidunno, I just use a lot of scatter brushes until it sort of looks like skin texture??? I honestly donāt worry about texture though unless itās like a really close up view of a face or whatever. You can find my brushes hereĀ (youāll need Photoshop CS or higher).
I am flattered that people are seeking advice from me, but keep in mind that I am still learning myself, so I am by no means the best person to be asking. Hope this helps you out though, anon!

Paul Richards here made a cool photoshop document that would reveal a complement of your color after using the paint bucket tool on a layer. It also shows various cool and warm tones of that color.
Iāve been having fun with it. Coloring my value sketches and such.

Useful since Iām trying to figure out what color to paint my room!
Although Iām really not buying their vague explanation for why pink is a āgirlās roomā color. Ā Not only girls need to be calmed by pink. This graphic even says that prisons sometimes use pink to calm down inmates.
