Since I’m painting backgrounds today, I did a one-hour speedpaint to warm up. Andy is a character from my magical girl webcomic, The Hues.
I feel like I’ve made some strides in my painting after the last few months! I can certainly tell a difference in this piece. I’m not so sure about some of the proportions I ended up with, or the clothing folds, but it’s a good start, and gave me some things to think about if I ever go into full-figure painting.

Two sketch cards done during the stream.
Sami was inked during the stream, but I did the coloring off-camera. Honestly, I used a brush on just a whim, and it’s way more effort than I would usually put into a sketch card commission unless I charged extra, so don’t anyone get any big ideas. ;)
Usually I just use a micron to ink these, as I did with Andy. I would have liked to do more with spot blacks in shading her jacket, but I’m a little gunshy with traditional inking.

Working on a character bible for The Hues. Here’s Sami and Andy’s reference sheets in progress. I got Sami’s finished earlier, but I’m hanging on to the finished one for now. ;)
