Put up my tree for the first time in three years!  The last two years, I lived with roommates who had a full-size artificial tree, so I haven’t even pulled everything out in a long time.

Apparently the last time I packed up, I didn’t feel like taking the lights and garlands off, so a lot of the work was already done once I fluffed up the branches. ^_^;;

What does this picture mean?

Is it saying autistic children don’t play on playgrounds?  Well, that’s incorrect.  My husband preferred Legos to the playgrounds, but there also were, are, and will be typical children with such preferences.

Is it saying it’s a leap of faith to have a child amongst the soaring rates of autism (which actually don’t mean there are significantly more autistic people in the world, just more diagnosed and more autistic adults, diagnosed and undiagnosed, having kids of their own)?

Is it saying the parents in the picture might be the chosen ones to HAVE A NORMAL CHILD THAT PLAYS amidst all those autistic children who, for the sake of argument as pertaining to this image, don’t play?

What does this mean?

The absence of any actual autistic kids in this picture says TONS about how much they “care”.

What the fuck, Jim Borgman?

Some forward progress

So far I’m up to page 3 of The Hues.  The rest of the chapter (24 pages total) is all thumbnailed and loosely scripted.

I’ve processed and sent off some sketches for the secret collaboration project.

The Hues website doesn’t look totally like butts now.  (Going to save up for a Real Web Designer to make it look cool, but this’ll do for now.)

It still feels like climbing a mountain, but I’m trying to focus on the progress.

Ray Frenden reviews the too-cheap-to-be-true Monoprice graphics tablets. How do they stack up to industry standard Wacoms?

After spending a week with the 6.25“x10” Monoprice, my Yiynova and Cintiq remain unplugged and I gave my Intuos away to a friend. The Monoprice tracks subtle pressure variances and small movements with less lag and more crisp fidelity than any of the others. It is, put crudely, fucking awesome, in both OSX Lion and Windows 7 x64.

I have one of these, 10×6.5 I bought about two months ago for 48 bucks. It’s a billion times better than my old Wacom Bamboo and works like a fuckin dream.

ATTENTION ALL PENNY-PINCHING ART FRIENDS!!!

ooo reblogging this for potential future purchase

oh

OH MY GOD THIS POST SHOWED UP AT THE PERFECT TIME THANK YOU

I have one of these! They’re wonderful.

For the people who ask me what kind of tablet they should start out with: This looks like a nice affordable option!

I’m really glad these tablets are so affordable, AND WORK!  My Bamboo has held up like iron in 5 years of heavy use, and it’s still going strong, but I’ll probably look at one of the larger-size Monoprice tables when I’m ready to upgrade.

I think I’m getting the hang of hand lettering.  The letters on the left are from page 1, and on the right is page 3, which itself is the most dialogue-heavy so far.  I was getting into a pretty good groove and the letters on the right more closely resemble my handwriting.

Tea storage – I need to paint this old wooden curio shelf. It’s super old, not my aesthetic. But USEFUL.

This is super pretty! I wish my tea storage looked half as neat.
