There is software called ‘recuva’ that you can install that works just as good as anything else and it is free. Good luck!

The files most likely are not lost on the drive. You can buy an external enclosure for your drive, put it in there, and get your files onto another computer.
Yeah, we have Plans. Once the system restore is done (MAYBE IN A BILLION YEARS) we’re going to go in with recovery software if the relevant files are gone.
