Part Two of Alex’s First Cel, a bonus douga that Kori gave me as well!Ā A partial drawing of Michiru’s face from episode 170, “The Fateful Night! The Agony of the Sailor Senshi.”
My super sleuthing led me to believe this was an Ando drawing, and I was correct!Ā 170 was Ando’s final episode, and also the only episode from Stars that he art directed.Ā Kinda cool to have something from it!Ā Ando gets a lot of flak from some corners, but I don’t really mind his style.
The wonderful tumblngkori gave me this cel last weekend at the con!Ā It’s Haruka from episode 107, “Art is an Explosion of Love! Chibiusa’s First Love.”
The douga was apparently stuck to the back at some point, as there are remnants of it embedded in the paint on the back of the cel.Ā Sadly, it seems that the douga was destroyed however long ago.
Whenever I get it framed, I think I’m going to recreate the background painting myself so it has something to look pretty against!
I know Sora isnāt a real magical girl, but with the animation in this show She should be.
Fun fact: Kaleido Star and Sailor Moon share a director: Junichi Sato.
Ahaaaaaaaaa this is the frame that my mystery douga is for! From the way the profile is drawn I SUSPECTED it was an Ando episode, and I was right. It’s also his final episode, and only episode in Stars, 170. This
frame is from the beginning of the very excellent scene with Mars and
Neptune lost in the mirror forest place.
I kind of love that I got a Haruka and Michiru two-fer, even though they’re from WAY different and random episodes! I will find some way to frame them side by side, so Michiru can smile enigmatically at Haruka forever.

Been itching to get back into art lately, so I decided to start small with a sprite edit. meglish and alexheberlingĀ I think are the only followers of mine who will know who she is, but this is Sailor Andromeda, my otaku senshi I created back when I was, what, fourteen? For the Senshi Exchange Club. Back in the day when cute graphic adoptables were a huge thing, it was a club based on online forums where we could all trade ādollsā of our senshi. BACK IN THE GOOD OLD DAYS OF FANDOM. *waves cane*
Even though I created her half my life ago (ā¦Iām old), I still really like the story I came up with for her and her teammates, so much so that I will occasionally revisit it. I think the last time ended up being so ambitious that I talked myself out of it before I began. Whoops?
