Wow. I just took a look at the Etsy shop for these because I saw some comments on my previous post about how these were too expensive.
You know what?Ā $758.00 dollarsĀ for a dress like this is not expensive at all. Thatās actually quite cheap. This is entirely hand-made. Ā Consider all the work that went into this, all the hours spent on each dress. Ā I think the artist is actually really underselling herself.
I’d venture a guess that it’s because people are so used to going to the local Target/Forever 21/Wet Seal and picking up a dress for $25.Ā The reason those clothes are so cheap is because they use cheap materials (hello, jersey), cheap factory labor in China, and only pay their retail employees minimum wage.
Granted, being one of those impoverished employees, I’m glad to be able to shop in Target’s clearance section for clothing, because most of the time, I can’t even afford that $25 dress until it’s marked down to $6.48.Ā (And I wear plus sizes, which means my clothing options are even more sparse.)Ā But I certainly don’t expect to get a handmade, one of a kind dress like this for the same price.
